In Europe House Zagreb the Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Branko Grcic, officially awarded contracts related to the project “Grant scheme for business infrastructure” funded by the European Regional Development Fun under the Operational Program Regional Competitiveness 2007-2013. The total value of the projects is almost 376 million HRK. The City of Zadar received 36 million HRK for the reconstruction of the Rector’s Palace. The contract was given to the Head of the Department for EU funds at the City of Zadar, Sime Erlic.
The project Rector’s Palace is selected amongst 15 other projects as the one that received the most funds for tourism infrastructure. Those funds are also the first ones received from the EU Structural Funds. The project must be implemented in the next two years.
Minister Grcic emphasized that the projects are chosen solely on the criteria of quality and that this model of financing is a stimulus in strengthening of business and tourism infrastructure in order to raise competitiveness of local governments in Croatia. He congratulated to all those whose good project preparation led to allocation of funds, but he warned about the great responsibility in its implementation at the same time.
